Sicomac Technology

Ms. Caputo is excited to return back to Sicomac after many years of being at Eisenhower Middle School & out of district.  She began teaching 5th grade, and has since taught Science, Social Studies, STEM, Library Media and much more!  Ms. Caputo is working with all of our students to help them become fearless explorers of the world around them through the design process in the Maker Space and safe troubleshooting digital citizens on the Internet.

Students in kindergarten and first grade are working on routines and the process of using the Desktop Apple Computers in the lab.  This includes using a mouse and keyboard to navigate and enter passwords. The students practice mouse skills to open tabs and windows, as well as, explore activities to reinforce curriculum skills masked in educational games on sites like ABCya and FunBrain. The second graders are elated to be using Chromebooks this year with their very own Wyckoff Public School usernames and passwords.  All classes k-2 have started using Seesaw again this year to create and share their work. Information about how to access those sites will be handed out at Back to School Night or Parent Teacher Conferences by homeroom teachers.

Students in grades 3 to 5 have started the year off with collaborative lessons to review all things Google and Chromebook.

Each class is participating in a series of Digital Citizenship lessons to review best behaviors to stay safe when communicating online.

All grades will be receiving their Typing Pal login information with monthly goals set.  Students are encouraged to spend at least 20-30 minutes through the week at home using Typing Pal to practice keyboarding skills.  Classes should have also received login information for other district websites including IXL and Think Central. Additional links and resources for technology can be found here on Ms. Caputo's Sicomac Technology Google Site Page  or by scanning here:

Ms. Caputo is looking forward to a great year of discovery with all our students!
