Dear Sicomac Families,
Can you feel it? That back-to-school energy is in the air!
I hope this email finds you well, and that you've all had a truly wonderful summer. Even though school was out, our amazing team has been working hard to get ready for a fantastic school year. As the new principal of Sicomac, I'm so honored to be part of this wonderful community. I'm absolutely thrilled to partner with each of you, making sure your children not only have a blast during their Sicomac years but also blossom in everything they do in the future. We're so lucky to have such a dedicated team here at Sicomac, and we can't wait to work together with you to help your children reach their full potential.
I'm writing today to share some important information to help us kick off the school year with a smile!
Get to Know Our School Schedule
Please take a moment to review our 2025-2026 Wyckoff School District Student Calendar. As a reminder, the first three days of school (September 3, 4, and 5) will be Minimum Days. Our school hours will be as follows:
To ensure a smooth start to the school year, we encourage all families to review the Sicomac Elementary School Arrival and Dismissal Procedures. Familiarizing yourself with these guidelines will help ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Our School Shines Thanks to You!
We are so grateful to our amazing PTO for coordinating the beautiful new murals around our school. This beautification project happened over the summer, between summer sessions and the start of the new school year, and their efforts have made our school an even brighter place to be!
Additionally, we’d like to extend a huge thank you to our incredible custodial and district maintenance staff for their hard work cleaning and preparing the school. A special thanks also goes to our front office staff, Mrs. Dies and Mrs. Salsberg who keep things running smoothly for everyone during the summer time.
Genesis Parent Portal: Get Ready to Log In!
The Genesis Parent Portal will open on Tuesday, August 26, after 3 PM, and you will be able to view your child’s homeroom assignment, but you must first complete the required school form for each of your children. The forms must be fully completed and submitted before you can access any other tabs in Genesis.
New families should check for an email from the IT department with their login information. Returning families can use their existing credentials.
For any technical assistance with the Genesis Parent Portal, please email the Genesis Help Desk at: genesis@wyckoffps.org.
Focus on Learning: Our Policy on Electronic Devices
We understand the temptation for students to use their smartwatches, cell phones, texting, gaming, and internet enabled devices, but our priority is to limit distractions in the learning environment.
To ensure our students' academic and social-emotional success, we kindly request that you do not send your child to school with such devices. If a device must be brought, please refrain from texting your child during school hours.
Teachers will ask students with these devices to place them in their backpacks during the school day. If you need to reach your child, you can always call the main office.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our students focused on their schoolwork and minimize distractions to their learning and socialization.
Questions for Our School Nurse?
Should you have questions for Nurse Nancy Williams, please reach out to her via email at nwilliams@wyckoffschools.org. Any forms or documentation for Nurse Williams may also be emailed to her or dropped off at the main office before the first day of school.
School Supplies: Order Your Toolbox Today!
For K-5 students, it's not too late to order your school supplies through the PTO-run School Toolbox. Support the PTO and get all your grade-level supplies delivered directly to your home. Kindergarten families may bring their child’s school supplies to Kindergarten Orientation on September 2nd.
We are so ready for a year filled with learning, growth, and fun and can’t wait to welcome your children back into the building. Get ready for a great year! We are so glad you’re part of our community. Please reach out to us with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Keith Dunbar
Principal
