Dear Sicomac Families,
What an amazing first week we’ve had! Our Sicomac Eagles are already soaring into the new school year. This week, students participated in their first Morning Meetings, enjoyed stories in the outdoor classroom, and began building the strong routines that will set them up for success all year. I also had the pleasure of meeting many of you during our Pre-K and Kindergarten orientations, as well as at arrival and dismissal. Thank you for helping keep the morning queue moving and for supporting our parking lot safety precautions. One reminder for dismissal: When picking up your child, please be sure to make eye contact with the teacher before leaving. This simple step is an important safety measure, and we truly appreciate your partnership in keeping all of our students safe.
Our students are settling beautifully into their new classrooms and routines. It’s clear that our K–5 students are ready for full school days! Beginning next week, grades 1–5 will transition to eating lunch in the cafeteria and enjoying their regular recess period. On Monday, grades 4 and 5 will see band demonstrations in our Multi-purpose room. Families in grade 4 and 5 will receive more information about instrumental music sign ups on Monday. Lastly, Wednesday, September 10th we will dress to impress on Picture Day!
Looking ahead, I am excited for the learning, growth, and joy this year will bring. Thank you for your partnership in making Sicomac such a special place for our students.
School Theme
I am thrilled to share our Sicomac school theme for the year: “You Belong Here.”
This theme, inspired by a beautiful mural donated by our PTO this summer, represents our commitment to every member of our community—students, families, and staff. It reminds us that Sicomac is a place where everyone is safe, known, and cared for, and where we hold ourselves to high expectations. On the good days, the long days, the special days, and even the challenging days, please remember: You Belong Here.
At Kindergarten Orientation, families shared their hopes and dreams for their children—making friends, building confidence, being happy, helping others, loving learning, and feeling supported. Our new school theme perfectly reflects those aspirations.
