Math

Dear Sicomac Families,

What a week it’s been at Sicomac! Your children are already in mid-year form, and we’ve checked off some exciting “firsts.” This week we had our first rainy-day indoor recess, our first Book Fair shopping trips, our first band classes, and our first student data meetings. I am so proud of the energy, creativity, and dedication shown by our entire community.

We’ve been playing, learning, and creating all week long—and now we’re ready for a well-deserved weekend!

Reminders for Families

Earlier this week, I sent home a memo with directions on how to access your child’s iReady results. In case you missed it, the PDF is linked here. If you have any questions about the assessments or accessing the platform, please reach out to your child’s teacher. (Tip: make sure pop-ups are disabled for smooth access!)

Back to School Night is right around the corner! We’re so excited to welcome you back into the building and share all that your children are working on. Please see my BTSN Announcement from last week for more information. For those who like to plan ahead, you’ll find a school directory with room numbers linked here. Hard copies of the directory with room numbers and a map will also be available Monday evening. We will see you there!

Healthy Highlights

Join us for the WEF Color Run! The Color Run takes place tomorrow at 11:00am at Eisenhower MS—come run, cheer, and get blasted with color.

Let’s get moving together! Students are encouraged to walk or bike to school this Wednesday, October 8th. I’ll be outside to greet everyone and will be biking to school myself!

The Sicomac Strut will get our whole school moving on November 13th, 2025. Mark your calendars! This year, the Strut will include a community food drive. More details to come soon.

Spotlight on Teaching & Learning

This week, our teachers and I gathered for discussions with our instructional coach, reading and math specialists, and teaching consultant. Together, we identified trends and reviewed beginning-of-year assessment data to ensure every student is receiving the right level of support and challenge. These meetings are critical to our goal of helping each child grow, thrive, and reach their full potential. Our teachers truly are the backbone of Sicomac, and I am proud of the thoughtful planning and collaboration they bring to this work.
