Health Barn

Dear Sicomac Families,

Since my last newsletter on Friday, we’ve enjoyed two fantastic events made possible by our incredible families and PTO. Harvest Fest gave us beautiful weather and the perfect opportunity to celebrate Fall together, enjoying fun activities and showcasing Sicomac Spirit. Last night, I experienced Military Bridge for the first time. It did not disappoint! It was such a joy to laugh, connect, and spend the evening together as a community. Sicomac truly shines because of everything you do to make it a vibrant, thriving place for our students. Congratulations to all of last night’s winners!

Shaping Our Future

We invite you to participate in a brief but important survey to help us define the core values and key aspirations that will guide our school community. The goal of this survey is to gather input from everyone (our dedicated staff and our wonderful families) to ensure we are building a shared vision for what our school strives to be. We will also be gathering input from our students. By identifying our fundamental values, we can better align our curriculum, culture, and community goals.

The survey is divided into two short parts:

  • Core Values: We ask you to select the values you feel are most essential to our identity (e.g., Respect, Integrity, Community).

  • Aspirations and Character Strengths: We ask you to select the key character strengths (e.g., Love of Learning, Gratitude, Perseverance, Creativity) that you believe are most critical for us to focus on developing in our students and throughout our school community in the coming year.

Your honest and thoughtful input will directly influence the focus and direction of our school. Thank you for helping us shape the future of our school! We deeply appreciate your partnership and commitment.

Upcoming Field Tests

In November 2025, grade 408 students will participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments-Adaptive field test administration for English Language Arts and Mathematics, aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. In accordance with the New Jersey Department of Education’s mandate for statewide participation, Wyckoff Public Schools is required to participate in this field testing. Please see this letter from our Assistant Superintendent, Grace White, for more information.

Reminders for Parents

Our Halloween Parade will take place on Friday, October 31st, at 2:00 p.m. Students may wear costume parts that are safe and comfortable for learning, recess, and PE. Any additional pieces or accessories can be brought in a bag and put on before the parade. Please remember that toy weapons or items that could cause safety concerns are not permitted. We can’t wait to celebrate this fun Sicomac tradition with you! Please see this letter (also included in our Friday Folders) for more information about our parade.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on November 10th and 17th. Conferences will run from 12:15–8:00 p.m. on November 10th and 2:00–7:00 p.m. on November 17th. You should have received sign-up directions earlier this week. If you haven’t yet scheduled your conference, please check your email or reach out to your child’s teacher.
