Dear Sicomac Families,

We made it through a very rainy arrival this morning and still had a great day here at Sicomac. Thank you for your cooperation with our parking lot routines and for ensuring your children arrive on time. Beginning the day with a calm, predictable routine makes a big difference for all of our students and sets a positive tone for the day.

It's hard to believe we are already approaching Holiday Recess. We are off to a wonderful start this year, and truly, the best is yet to come. It has been a busy and joyful week here at school. Please see below for highlights from our final full week of 2025.

Staff Celebrations

This week, we had the opportunity to celebrate two true Sicomac icons as they count down the days of their remarkable careers. On Thursday, our entire school community came together to hear heartfelt words honoring Nurse Nancy and Mrs. Brooke, who will be retiring at the end of December. There was laughter, there were tears, and there was so much gratitude. We are excited for their next chapter and deeply appreciative of the immeasurable impact they have had on our students, staff, and families. Sicomac will always be their home.

Winter Fun

Thank you to our families who came out to support our 2nd and 3rd grade students as they filled our school with holiday cheer through their performances. Our students were incredible proud of their work, and we hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did! A special thank you to Dr. Postma for her attendance and continued support of our students and to Mr. Potosnak for preparing our students so thoughtfully for the stage.

We also embraced the festive spirit with holiday sweaters, pajamas, and a pancake breakfast from IHOP. Who says learning can't be fun? It was wonderful to see our students' self-expression and holiday joy throughout the building.

Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm. We ill wrap up 2025 strong next week with a full day on Monday and Minimum Day on Tuesday. As a reminder, there is no lunch served on minimum day. Remember to pack a good snack!

Sincerely,

Keith Dunbar, Principal
