Dear Sicomac Families,
Happy New Year and welcome to 2026! We are off to a great start here at Sicomac. Our first week back is in the books, and it has been wonderful to reconnect, reestablish routines, and feel the positive energy throughout the building. As always, there are so many great things happening, and we truly appreciate all that you do to support your child's learning journey. Our staff is excited for the second half of the year as we continue working together to help our students reach their academic goals while growing into confident, well-rounded learnings who know they belong at Sicomac.
Staffing Updates
This week we are pleased to welcome Arielle Jennings, who joins our team as an instructional aide. We are also happy to welcome Kerry Stith, who will be serving as our Interim Nurse for the next month. Nurse Stith will be supporting our community until Ms. Jola Puzio begins as our permanent nurse in February.
Families may contact Nurse Stith at subnurse@wyckofschools.org or by calling extension 3203.
Middle of Year i-Ready Diagnostic Scores
Families of students in grades K-5 can now access their child's i-Ready diagnostic scores. Please refer to the directions provided here for accessing scores. You may need to ensure that pop-ups are not blocked on your device.
i-Ready creates a personalized learning plan known as My Path, based on each student's diagnostic results to target areas for growth. This, in combination with each teacher's individualized instructional planning, allows us to effectively differentiate instruction for every student and support their progress.

One School, One Book Kick-Off
Today we proudly kicked off our One School, One Book initiative with a schoolwide assembly. Students are excited to begin reading this year's book, A Whole New Ballgame by Phil Bildner. Every student received a copy of the book today.

To celebrate this unifying school experience, we held a "Hallway Read," during which the entire school gathered in the hallways to read quietly together, symbolizing the strong reading community nurtured by our staff, students and families. We encourage families to read along using the provided schedule or follow along each night as different staff members read chapters aloud. Be sure to visit the special One School, One Book website to access recordings by our amazing Sicomac staff. We look forward to celebrating this initiative through trivia, discussions, and other activities as we enjoy this shared reading experience together.
