Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I hope your summer was packed with sunshine and unforgettable family memories. We are gearing up for another incredible year and the excitement in our hallways is palpable. The true magic of our school stems from the strong partnership between our families and our dedicated staff that I am beyond proud to work alongside every single day. Together, we ensure the Sicomac years are defined by excellence, inclusion, personal growth, and a vibrant, well-rounded education. I cannot wait to feel the energy return to our hallways when our students walk through the doors in a couple of weeks.
A huge shoutout goes to our incredible custodial and maintenance teams, who have been working tirelessly all summer long. Our building is absolutely sparkling! We are so fortunate to have top-notch facilities and staff that deeply understands how a clean, welcoming environment sets the stage for great learning.

Staffing Updates
I have the privilege of serving our community alongside such a talented and dedicated staff. This year, we have made thoughtful updates to several assignments, allowing our educators to leverage their unique strengths to best support student growth across all grade levels. With these moves, Sicomac will return to three classes per grade level, strengthening our entire instructional program.
Please join me in welcoming and congratulating our staff members in their updated roles:
Mrs. Stephanie Branciforte (1st Grade): Transitioning from Instructional Coach, Mrs. Branciforte is a master educator who spent recent years guiding teacher development here at Sicomac. Her deep expertise in curriculum design and personalized learning makes her an incredible asset to the 1st-grade classroom.
Mrs. Ellen Calamito (Kindergarten): Returning to Kindergarten after several years in 1st grade, Mrs. Calamito brings exceptional instructional practice and a proven gift for building lasting connections with our youngest learners during their first full-time school experience.
Ms. Christine Caldwell (ABA Preschool): Moving from her role as an LLD teacher, Mrs. Caldwell will help lead the expansion of our growing ABA program. Having previously taught in ABA and provided specialized services K–5, her comprehensive expertise will elevate our early childhood team.
Ms. Mia Caviasco (3rd Grade): Transitioning from Kindergarten to expand our 3rd-grade team to three sections, Ms. Caviasco brings dynamic energy and outstanding student rapport to her new grade level. She is excited to guide her students through the challenges and opportunities of third grade.
Mr. Sam Enright (District Physical Education): Joining us as a PE teacher supporting all district elementary schools, Mr. Enright brings high energy and a holistic approach centered on the belief that active students thrive academically, emotionally, and physically.
Mrs. Jen Laterra (LLD 2): Moving from Preschool to our LLD classroom, Mrs. Laterra’s strong background in early childhood education and inclusive instruction makes her an ideal fit to foster a supportive, goal-oriented environment for our Kindergarten and First-Grade students.
Mrs. Sheila McLean (School Counselor): Rejoining the Sicomac family from Middle School, Mrs. McLean brings extensive K–8 experience and dual certification as a Social Worker, ensuring holistic mental health and academic support for every student at Sicomac.
Mrs. Kelly Rightmyer (Kindergarten): Transitioning from LLD to Kindergarten, Mrs. Rightmyer’s vast experience and passion for early childhood learning and inclusive practices ensures a seamless, nurturing transition for our newest students.
Mrs. Jigisha Vyas (District Instructional Coach): Moving from Coolidge School to a district-wide role, Mrs. Vyas brings impressive expertise in curriculum writing, team leadership, and teacher mentoring to help elevate classroom success and student achievement at Sicomac.
These decisions were made thoughtfully to ensure our students receive the absolute best educational experience possible during their time at Sicomac. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for a year filled with discovery, growth, and achievement for every student.
Genesis Parent Portal: Get Ready to Log In!
The Genesis Parent Portal will open on Wednesday, August 26, after 3pm, and you will be able to view your child's homeroom assignment, but you must first complete the required school form for each of your children. The forms must be fully completed and submitted before you can access any other tabs in Genesis. New families should check for an email from the IT department with their login information. Returning families can use their existing credentials.

To help us ensure safe, efficient mornings and afternoons, please take a moment to read through the Sicomac Elementary School Arrival and Dismissal Procedures. Thank you in advance for helping us make every school day run seamlessly from start to finish.
PTO Reminders
As we get ready for the new school year, we want to remind returning families and let our new families know that GroupSpot is the primary platform for all Sicomac PTO communications. Most families are already connected, but if you have not yet joined, please use:

All families must register and pay the annual $25 PTO membership dues through the app by September 11 to continue accessing PTO content and communications. Families can also conveniently purchase grade-level school supplies through School Toolbox, where each box has been curated by our teachers to include everything students will need to start the year. Please have your child bring their supplies to school in a bag on the first day. Order by Sunday, August 23, to guarantee arrival by the first day of school and avoid expedited shipping charges.
